Site identified during transcription of features recorded on air photographs. (1)
The feature was originally mapped as the cropmark remians of a spread of a possible barrow mound by the earlier RCHME Kent NMP project undertaken in the late 1990s. This site has been resurveyed from aerial photographs as part of the Historic England Thanet Landscape Mapping Project 2024. New aerial photographs :Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 21-APR-2007- indicate this is the remains of a large sub-circular pit of uncertain date 24m x 34m which is marked on the OS 2nd editiion map. A second smaller pit lies immediately to the north. (2).
