Site identified during transcription of features recorded on air photographs. (1) RCHME AP shows sub-circular cropmark consisting of pit features, a possible barrow, at TR 3483 6842. Situated at the W. end of a linear feature. (2)

Cropmarks of an oval pit, probably a post medieval extractive pit visible on aerial photographs : NMR 2602/0211 24-APR-1985 and Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 14-APR-2015 which was mapped as part of the Historic England Thanet Landscape Mapping Project 2024. This site and the adjacent ditch were mapped by the RCHME Kent NMP project (mentioned above), but the loose stipple used for the mapping of large diffuse cropmarks was confused with the tight stipple used for mounds. The ditch, which is aligned NW-SE, measures c.70m in length, but appears to continue a further 240m in three sections to the SE with traces of pependicular side ditches suggesting associated boundaries or enclosures of uncertain date. This may be associated with a rectilinear settlement enclosure at TR3528 6835 at its SE end which is recorded separatley.(3-4)
