Monument record TR 36 NW 181 - Iron Age ditch, Minster

Summary

A truncated V-shaped ditch was found near Minster during work to lay a gas pipeline in 1984. The ditch was only partly excavated due to time constraints. It ran in a north west to south east direction and was c1.3m across by 0.95m deep. Amongst the finds removed from the fill of this feature were animal bones, shells and some sherds of coarse early Iron Age pottery. Cropmarks of a ditch, possibly this feature were mapped from Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 21-APR-2007 as part of the Historic England Thanet Landscape Mapping Project 2024.
