Full Description
TR 328687. Cropmarks of archaeological features. South of Shottendene Road cropmarks show ring and linear ditches, barrows and possibly Iron Age or Romano British field systems. (1)
The area and features described above (1) have been re-surveyed from aerial photographs - HEA 3368_29750_006 29-JUN-2015- as part of the Historic England Thanet Landscape Mapping Project 2024. These photographs and the original source photo no.79 listed in source (1) show the cropmarks of two large negative features - pits of uncertain date - rather than ring ditches. A small pit is visible nearby in the same imagery. The linear ditches are also visible. These ditches form part of a series of large ditched enclosures, possibly a settlement and field system of uncertain date which have been recorded fully in TR 36 NW 43. (2)
