Monument record TR 36 NE 555 - Possible Iron Age field system, Westwood, Broadstairs
Summary
In 2005 Oxford Archaeology carried out an excavation on land east of Tesco Extra, Westwood. During these investigations a group of ditches were uncovered, possibly forming part of a field system. There appears to be two phases of activity but the dates arre not clear, both Iron Age and Medieval pottery sherds were recovered in small numbers. Given the few finds recovered, this ditch system would appear to have been peripheral to any contemporary settlement. (location accurate to the nearest 1m based on available information)

Full Description
In 2005 Oxford Archaeology carried out an excavation on land east of Tesco Extra, Westwood. A long segmented curvilinear ditch of Late Iron Age date. Evidence of cereal processing in the immediate area was found in the fills of the ditch. (1-2)
