Full Description
In 2009 Swale and Thames Archaeological Survey Company carried out a programme of works. Features dating from the 13th century through to the 17th century were found. The earliest of these were post holes, stake holes and a linear cut that may have been the foundation for a wall. A quarry pit and numerous pits also dated to the early 13th century. 14th century activity on the site was evidenced by further pits, one of which was lined with stake holes. The 15th century activity found on the site also consisted of a number of pits. The site was most intensively used during the 16th century, again with numerous pits, post holes and stake holes found. A dog burial dated to this phase of use. 17th century activity on the site again consisted of intercutting pits, one of which contained a wooden barrel or bucket, though on a more reduced scale compared with earlier periods.
