Monument record TR 36 SW 71 - Early medieval/medieval pit, Cottington Hill, Minster parish

Summary

A pit feature was found at Cottington to the north of Ebbsfleet in 1977, during work to lay a pipeline. The rescue excavations were undertaken by the Thanet Archaeological Unit. The fill of this feature contained burnt soil, ashes and pottery sherds of Tyler Hill and shell tempered pottery from Canterbury and North Kent. This assemblage has been dated to c.1050-1100 AD.
