Full Description

In 2011/12 Canterbury Archaeological Trust carried out an evaluation and excavation. Worked flints, dumps of flint nodules and possible stake holes were found associated with a band of organic silty clay likely to have formed in waterlogged conditions, probably a marshy area beside a watercourse or creek. The flintwork was probably of Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age date. Some knapping was occurring in the area. The dumps of flint nodules could represent a causeway from drier land across the marsh to the creek. Two pits were also found and could be of similar date. (1)
