Area I was a portion of the Grain-Shorne pipeline in a valley bottom north of the village of Cliff Woods excavated in 2008.

Two successive enclosures were laid out on the site in the late 1st to mid 2nd century. The enclosures were at least 50m long. The only other features were a shallow gully and a small pit. (1-2)
