Full Description
In 2013 the Trust for Thanet Archaeology carried out a strip, map and sample excavation. Two parallel linear features crossed the site, demarcating a trackway. It ran for approximately 65m across the site and was 2.3m wide. Historic mapping indicates that the gullies may be part of a medieval or later trackway which formed through the passage of cart wheels along an east west aligned route, possibly linking Cleve Court to the west of the site with Alland Grange to the east. Another short stretch of similarly orientated linear gully was encountered at the north western limit of area stripping but no dating evidence was recovered from the deposit filling the feature in the segment that was excavated.
