Full Description
In 2002 Canterbury Archaeological Trust carried out an excavation. Two pits were found containing a sherd of possibly Middle Iron Age date. The pits measured 1.35m in length, 1.5m in width , and 0.16-0.35m in depth.
A worked flint of Bronze Age date was also found. These pits were sealed beneath what appeared to be agricultural soils around 0.23-0.25m in depth containing later Iron Age pottery. The area is therefore likely to have been used during the later prehistoric period, principally for agricultural purposes in the Late Iron Age. (1)
