Full Description
In 2009/10 Archaeology South-East carried out a strip, map and sample excavation. A north-south ditch crossed the site, 110m of its length being exposed. It is thought to have been a field ditch though no entrances to fields could be found along its length. The fill contained residual worked flints but also worked flints of the Middle to Late Bronze Age. The worked flints included a horned scraper, a concave scraper, a side scraper and two hammerstones. Five cremations were found near the ditch. All but one were unurned. The urned cremation had been deposited in a Late Bronze Age/Early Iron Age vessel. (1)
