Full Description
In 2000/1 the Oxford Archaeological Unit carried out a targeted watching brief (a strip, map and sample excavation) ahead of CTRL works. An area in the southern part of the site had post holes probably relating to post-built structures. One of the post holes contained an in situ base of a pottery vessel. It was quartzite-tempered, a fabric unique to the site. This has lead to suggestions that it represents a special deposit. A pit was found within the possible structure. Other nearby features could have related to an additional structure or animal pen. Another in situ pot was found associated with this structure. (1-2)
