Full Description
During an archaeological evaluation at the former Hammill brickworks, Woodnesborough, near Eastry, Kent, part of a Later Prehistoric ditch was found in Trench 5.
A 2m section of a ditch with steep sloping sides, forming a roughly 'V'-shaped profile was excavated. The ditch had a width of 1.85m and a depth of 0.75m. The primary fill comprised of a very compact grey-brown silty brick earth containing very frequent manganese flecks and very occassional charcoal flecks. This context also produced pottery and flint waste flakes.
