Full Description

During monitoring of the Folkestone Transfer Pipeline in 1998 three heavily patinated waste flakes of possible Palaeolithic date were recovered close ot the Hougham mast (between MH9 and MH10), from a Clay-with-flints sub-soil. These were thought to be much older than the bulk of the lithic material collected during the project. (1)

A dense concentration of probable Neolithic flints were also found near Cauldham Farn as well as a concentration of generally prehistoric flints at Green Lane/Winehouse Lane.
A Neolithic? Pit was uncovered also at Winehouse Lane. (1)
