Full Description

An undated mound c. 1.8 m high and 19 m across exists within the grounds of 'Kinver Edge', 36-38 The Droveway. The area is marked as 'Snag Barrow Mount' on the 1st edition Ordnance Survey map of 1862-75. It is possible that the site is related to nearby Anglo-Saxon burials that have been discovered at 5 Salisbury Road to the south and 9 Salisbury Road to the north. Such burials were often placed close to prehistoric barrows. Further burials of unknown date are reported to have been discovered close to the property in the 1960s although no information is available about these.(1)

During an evaluation in 2018, which found two early medieval graves nearby, the mound was found to be 19th or early 20th century. This interpretation was based in part upon a stratified pot base fragment from a glazed earthenware vessel datable to the period c. AD 1700−1800. (2)
