In 2014 trial trenching ahead of new building work at Dover Christ Church Academy found a possible prehistoric ditch. It was suggested this may be part of an enclosure or boundary. It was dated by a few prehistoric flints although the feature may be related to nearby Roman activity.

From the report: "The ditch was found in the north-east of the site in trench 1. This feature was traced running north-west by south-east across the width of the trench. It was about 2.50m wide but its full depth was not ascertained. It was at least 1.20m deep, with steep–sloping sides. It was filled with two separate deposits of clay...

The evaluation trenching produced only a small artefact assemblage, all prehistoric flintwork
with the exception of a one pot-sherd...

A total of twenty-one prehistoric struck flint flakes was recovered during the evaluation
trenching, although there are no definite tools... Within the assemblage, there is very little material showing any evidence of working or utilisation and there are no cores." (1)
