Summary

A section of Norman walling forming part of the boundary wall of the Priory survives and runs from the west end of the Cathedral south-westwards to Sun Stree where it falls between Nos. 24 and 25 Sun Street.

Full Description

A section of Norman walling forming part of the boundary wall of the Priory survives and runs from the west end of the Cathedral south-westwards to Sun Stree where it falls between Nos. 24 and 25 Sun Street. (1) The wall was surveyed in 2011 and found to have two phases of construction. Phase 1 was composed of abundant medium sized roug faced flints. The second phase was composed of very abundant medium sized rough faced flints. Both phases are likely to be of medieval date as indicated by the building materials.
