Full Description

Very little has been found out about the Bake House to date.

On a plan of the Archbishop's Palace, a bake house is shown situated in the north-east corner of the Outer Court adjoining the east side of the Archbishop's Barn. It appears as a rectangular shaped building approximately 60 feet in length and 25 feet in width, of two storeys with a long room on the upper floor. It is unclear when it was built but it is possible that it may be of late medieval date.

It is recorded in existence in the Parlimentary Survey of 1647 where it is described as a stone-built structure with a tiled roof.
