Full Description
This is part of the New Lodgings built by Prior Goldstone II 1495-1517, over the site of the Norman Bath House. Later became the Deanery.
The Norman Bath House is shown on Proir Wibert's Map of the Priory's waterworks dated c. 1165 and is there labelled Balneatorium et Camera (Bath House and Chamber), where clearly a branch water pipe supplies the Bath House. The building was rectangular shaped in plan measuring about 95 feet in length N-S by about 32 feet wide.
Little else has been found out about the Norman Bath House to date except it must have been largely demolished for the Prior's New Lodging's to be built over it in 1495-1517.
