Full Description
During the East Kent Access Route excavations (2009-2011) a number of early iron age pits were discovered close to a possible early iron age palisade and a middle iron age trapezoidal enclosure. The pits contained domestic material such as animal bone, pottery, fired clay and shell. Pit 125053 also contained small quantities of fuel ash slag, while 173188 contained a human cranium in its uppermost fill. (1)
