Full Description

During the excavation of the site at Cliffs End Farm in 2004/5 a small collection of mostly residual mesolithic and neolithic flints was found together with a possible neolithic pit and several sherds of neolithic pottery.

The possible pit was located within Barrow 1 which was dated to the early bronze age. It was fortuitously cut by the innrer ditch of the barrow. Close by a small group of early neolithic and Peterborough Ware sherds was found that derived from at least 3 vessels, a bowl of uncertain form and two either Mortlake or Fengate Peterborough Ware vessels.(1,2,3)
