Full Description

Post-holes 491, 492 and 493 were sealed by a deposit of burnt daub and charcoal flecked dark grey-brown fine loam up to 30 cm thick. This layer was similar to the context 457 which overlay a pebble layer in the same area.

Three pits also found in this area;
Pit 484 had been badly disturbed by later pits. 17cm deep and filled with brown loam, pebbels, oyster shells and animal bones. The pit cut pebble spread context 476 and be later then other Anglo-Saxon features in this area.
Pit 661 was contemporary with Post holes 491, 492 and 493. 8cm deep and backfilled with charcoal and daub flecked dark grey-brown loam and oyster shells.
Pit 758 Truncation of this pit by later pits destroyed the cut level, so that its relationship to Anglo-Saxon deposits in this area was uncertain. It was 16cm deep and backfilled with dark grey loam, charcoal flecks, many stones and buff brickearth lumps.
