Monument record TR 15 NW 1951 - Anglo Saxon pit, Longmarket, Canterbury
Summary
A deep Anglo-Saxon pit was the only other significant feature found in trench 2. It was filled with dark-greenish-brown sandy earth with patches of yellow loam and contained many oyster shells and bones together with sherds of three small hand made Saxon vessels of late 6th or 7th century. Pierced rim of soft granular fabric was also found, dated to 8th or 9th century.
