Monument record TR 15 NW 1954 - Anglo-Saxon, occupation evidence and findspots 77-79 Castle Street
Summary
The Saxon levels produced a number of fine bone weaving combs, loom weights, weaving implements and two Saxon sceattas. The Saxon layers were sealed by a thick deposit of black loam, probably agricultural, which was in turn sealed by a 14th century layer which included the remains of a timber-framed building with caly floors, and a large number of rubbish and cess pits and wells cut during the continued occupation of the building.
