Monument record TR 15 NW 2086 - Roman Road & Side Ditch, Thannington House Hotel, Wincheap
Summary
The service trench was excavated to a depth of c. 2m. Metallings and a side drain of a Roman street were recorded at a depth of 1m and exposed for a width of 4m (perhaps half the width of the actual Roman road). The Roman metallings were sealed by post-Roman road surfaces, which had been badly disturbed by service trenches.
