Monument record TR 15 NE 1546 - Roman ditch, Lift Shaft in NE Transept, Canterbury Cathedral
Summary
The earliest feature was a late 1st/early 2nd century ditch aligned NE/SW and four post holes, possibly representing an associated fence line. In the 2nd or early 3rd century a foundation, probably of a wall, was built on the same alignment as the ditch. It is not certain if this represented a building. Four rubbish pits were found to the west of the wall.
