Monument record TR 15 NE 1613 - Medieval occupation, 47 Burgate Street (now 46)

Summary

Excavations were undertaken from road level behind the basement; the main features seen were the footings and walls of a substantial late medieval building. These overlay and cut into a curious structure of concreted gravel about 1.83m deep and interpreted as the footings of a building of Roman date. It was cut by medieval pits, a well, and a medieval basement.
