Full Description
A Wessex Archaeology programme of archaeological mitigation works took place at The County Ground, Folkestone ahead of the construction of a new sports centre and pavillion at the Cricket Ground. (1) (2)
A pit was uncovered which contained a small quantity of cremated human bone and a substantial quantity of charcoal. The contractors interpret this in their report as a cremation pit burial. The bone/charcoal is undated but based on stratigraphic interpretation of the pit, it is presumed to be prehistoric in date. (1)
