Full Description

A Canterbury Archaeological Trust excavation took place in July 2014 ahead of the construction of a new toilet block at Richborough Castle. (1)

The excavation revealed various roman features across the trench which they split in their report into the East of the trench and the West of it due to the fact that the sloping nature of the site and the necessity of leaving (modern) concrete strips in situ made it very difficult to follow deposits across the whole trench. (1)

A pit, a posthole, a flint cobbled surface and a possible wall foundation as well as various Roman-British period finds were uncovered. (1)
