Full Description
A programme of archaeological excavation took place at the land to the south of Honeywood Parkway in 2014 in advance of planned development of the area. Two areas were excavated. Area A had a number of features including a linear north-south aligned feature and two hollows. The largest feature was an irregular hollow from which flint flakes and pottery were recovered. Area B uncovered three pits and a feature containing flint fragments. It also contained more features including a string of linear and curvilinear gullies. There was very little cultural material recovered. The features were not able to be dated and it could not be said definitively that they were not geological. The finds included struck flint of broadly later Neolithic to Bronze Age date. Burnt flint was also recovered together with 2 sherds of pottery, dating from around 1500 BC-AD 50. (1)
