Summary

A ditch, gulley and a possible hearth were observed during a watching brief in 2011. Flints, shell and burnt granulated chalk were found.

Full Description

A watching brief took place at 11 Northumberland Avenue in 2011. A truncated oblique section of a ditch was observed with a few finds collected from the lowe part. To the west a shallow gully was visible.Further west along the section the chalk sloped down gently until it reached a flat floor on which surface lay deveral flints about 20cm in length, accompanied by what loked like burnt granulated chalk, possibly a simple hearth. Whelk and pomatias shells were also found. (1)
