Full Description
In 2003 an excavation took place at Woodford Barha,. The prescence of a small ditch running in a straight line along the sout-west foundation trench was found. The trench was traced for a ditance of 10m. The ditch was V-shaped in profile and had a flat base 30cm wide. It was made up of two fills, the lowe filling produced a single potsherd of hand mafe black-brown ware, probably of late Iron Age date. The precise date and function and date of the ditch is unknown. If it is Iron Age contemporary with the pot sherd it could have served as a boundary ditch. However the presence of a Roman road next to it means it could have bee Roman and formed a drainage ditch associated with the road. (1)
