An evaluation took place at Northfleet West Substation, Ebsfleet ahead of proposed development. One phase of this was evaluation trenching.

This phase uncovered various archaeological features including several bronze age to iron age pits.

The report summarises findings as follows:
"Of the 112 evaluation trenches only 23 contained archaeological features and only 15 of
these yielded finds, predominantly struck flints and Bronze to Iron Age pottery sherds. One
pit contained medieval pottery, and two others contained modern material. These features
were at a shallow depth, sealed by the plough soil or colluvium. The features, where found,
were predominantly located in the northeast and southeast of the site, on higher and/or level
ground." (1)
