Full Description
During a second phase of an archaeological evaluation at Burleigh Farm in 2015 one of the five trenches revealed medieval pottery sherds. Three pottery sherds were recovered from Trench 4: two comprised buff coloured body sherds of medieval date and the third, a fragment of the outer surface of an unglazed handle with a series of ‘pin-hole’ perforations into the body to aid even firing. They were the body sherd of Ashford/Wealdon Sandy dating to 1200-1400 and a handle in Ashford Hill Sandy dating to 1375-1525. The finds were not associated with any archaeologicla feature. (1)
