Full Description

Between August and September 2015 an archaeological evaluation excavated a total of 17 trenches. Three sherds in medium-grained sandy wares were dated as Medieval. None were particularly distinctive, but two were comparable to North or West Kent fine sandy ware (fabric M38B in the Canterbury type series, c. 1225/50–1400), and the third to Ashford/Wealden sandy ware (fabric M40B, 1175–1400).
The monument has been place between the two trenches where these sherds were found. The sherds were listed as being from topsoil of two trenches (8 and 9), no further information is available. (1)
