Full Description
Between August and September 2015 an archaeological evaluation excavated a total of 17 trenches. A number of undated ditches, gullies, hedgerows, and tree throws were discovered across the site, primarily centred in the northern, north westerly area of the site. The monument point has been centrally placed in this area.
There was evidence of two probable hedgerows that had been removed, 6 ditches, 7 tree throws and 5 drainage gullies. The majority of linear features were aligned north-east to south-west, with the exception of two diches aligned north-west to south-east. These features indicated a primarily agricultural or arable use of the site pre 19th Century (date based on cartographic evidence). (1)
