Monument record TQ 95 SW 143 - Bone Mill, Land south of Tanyard Farm

Summary

During an archaeological desk-based assessment in June 2015 the remains of Bone Mill were located. The remains lie approximately 290m to the south east of the most southerly site boundary at Tanyard farm. The stream that continues past the site boundary continues to the remains of the Bone Mill before changing its course to a south-westerly direction. Bone Mill was a water mill used to grind bones to be used as fertiliser. The exact extent of the remains has not been established due to prolific foliage and undergrowth obscuring much of the area.
