Full Description
Between 1st and 3rd February 2016 an archaeological evaluation was carried out involving the excavation of 5 trenches. A series of three ditch-like features, uncovered in three of the five trenches, are believed to make up a probable Iron Age/Roman coaxial field system. Only the first ditch of this system (in Trench 1) revealed any datable finds - a single early Iron Age/ middle Iron Age pottery fragment (13g) from the fill of the ditch. Un-associated with the feature in the first trench were three fragments (38g) of Roman dated pottery, a single undiagnostic worked flint (37g) and a single fire-cracked flint (39g). (1)
