Summary
The remains of Herrings Mill [visible on early OS maps] were located during a survey of Snipe Wood. By 1869 at least the Mill had been disused (OS map 1869 marks Herring's Mill as disused). The survey found the presence of rubble, a well, banks and platforms linked to a mill pond with a remaining culvert through the pond bay.

Full Description
The remains of Herrings Mill [visible on early OS maps as Keys Mill, Herrings Mill, and Herrings Mill (disused) and on the Tithe Map Pembury as Keys Mill] were located during a survey of Snipe Wood. The survey found the presence of rubble, a well, banks and platforms linked to a mill pond with a remaining culvert through the pond bay. Little further information is available. The age of the mill is not known at this stage. (1)
