Full Description
In 2008 a evaluation took place across the PB site, Horsewash Lane, Rochester. In trench 8 a deposit was uncovered which comprised a mid greenish yellow sandy clay which is similar to the foreshore deposits scattered across the site.
ASE reports that’s that "This deposit was identified at between 1.82m OD and 2.47m OD. This deposit contained Roman pottery dated to AD150 -200 and a bronze figurine of a cockerel. Within this deposit was a single worked round wood stake 8/14. Overlying this was a deposit of greyish blue silty clay 8/02 lying at between 1.75 and 2.27m OD. This deposit contained two sherds of Roman pottery." (9)
