Monument record TQ 77 NW 1255 - Area D of Curtis's and Harvey Ltd Explosives Factory, Cliffe

Summary

At the centre of the northern coastal edge of the site, and established pre-war for cordite processing. The south-western half is densely covered with large concrete pads without defensive earthworks, and the north-eastern half contains smaller and more dispersed buildings mostly with traverses. The area also includes a distinctive Y-shaped group of large concrete building slabs, which have been 'attributed to the processes of cordite manufacture'.
