Full Description

An Iron Age settlement of c.500 BC was located during excavations undertaken by Kent Archaeological Rescue Unit between 1970 and 1977. The settlement is characterised by wooden huts and storage pits. (1)

Published information about these excavations concentrates on the Roman forts and extra mural settelement in Dover. There is no information included about Neolithic or Iron age occupation of the site other than passing comments, a detailed report on the Prehistoric occupation evidence uncovered during these works awaits publication.
