Full Description
In February and March 2008 Foundations Archaeology undertook a programme of archaeological evaluation on land centred on Russell Street, Dover, Kent (NGR: TR 3211 4135). The project was commissioned by CgMs Consulting Ltd. on behalf of Bond City.
Trench 1: was 9.8m long by 2m wide and contained a number of potentially archaeologically significant features.
A substantial chalk-built structure occurred towards the eastern end of the trench. The feature was cut and overlaid by numerous Post-medieval/modern features and deposits and extended beyond the north, east and south limits of excavation as well as the maximum depth of investigation. A single fragment of Post-medieval/modern glass recovered whilst hand cleaning the upper fill of the feature is possibly invasive.(1)
