Full Description
In February and March 2008 Foundations Archaeology undertook a programme of archaeological evaluation on land centred on Russell Street, Dover, Kent (NGR: TR 3211 4135). The project was commissioned by CgMs Consulting Ltd. on behalf of Bond City.
Trench 3 which was located in the area of the former Thompson’s Garage had, in spite of the high degree of modern disturbance, evidence for well preserved archaeological deposits in the form of stone, chalk and brick-built structures, including walls and possible floor surfaces, along with possible earth-cut features and soil deposits.
A possible chalk surface occurred at a similar depth to a deposit, which was cut by gullies which were all
associated with late Medieval/early Post-medieval pottery.(1)
