Full Description
In February and March 2008 Foundations Archaeology undertook a programme of archaeological evaluation on land centred on Russell Street, Dover, Kent (NGR: TR 3211 4135). The project was commissioned by CgMs Consulting Ltd. on behalf of Bond City.
Trench 8 contained well preserved deposits in the form of chalk-built structure(s), earth-cut features and soil deposits. An irregular chalk block (0.35m by 0.28m) wall aligned north-northwest/south-southeast, bonded by a light grey chalk/clay mortar, was located towards the eastern end of the trench. It is probable that this structure and the associated soil deposits pre date the modern period. (1)
