Monument record TR 34 SW 1350 - Early riverine sediments located beneath the bed of the River Dour, Dover
Summary
A watching brief was undertaken on trenches for a major new water pipeline for Dover, one of the areas affected was the crossing of the river dour at the northern end of Mill Lane, where a 3m deep trench was cut. The sediments in the lower third of the trench are of particular interest as deposits of a very similar nature were found overlying the remains of a Bronze Age boat discovered in the Bench Street underpass. (Location accurate to the nearest 2m based on available information).
