A watching brief was undertaken on trenches for a major new water pipeline for Dover, part of which was located along York Street and cut both the Saxon Shore fort and the Classis Britannica Fort. A number of chalk block walls which are associated with the CLBR Fort II barracks, alongside metalled surfaces and occupation deposits associated with the Classis Britannica fort II, were located.
