Full Description

Excavations undertaken by Kent Archaeological Rescue unit in 1974, at the former site of Centurion House on Bench Street, Dover (in an area now occupied by a car park on the north eastern side of the street), uncovered a number of features and deposits of both a post medieval and Medieval date. The medieval features included a stone base of a possible riverside quay, road metalling, occupation deposits and rubbish pits. Post medieval cess tanks were also uncovered. (1-2)
