The former site of Round tower lane is apparent on early post medieval mapping on the eastern side on 'Paradise Pent'. This would have been one of the main thoroughfares in Dover’s historic Pier District (which has today been mostly demolished and absorbed within the harbour works). William Eldred's map of this area, dating to 1641 (sheet 7/8), shows the lane (here labelled 'Rounde Tower Lane') bounded on both sides by buildings and curving around the north eastern side of 'Paradise Pent' (which was infilled in the later post medieval period). Its name likely derives from the round tower which was also situated on the north eastern side of Paradise Pent, just to the west of the lane. (1)

The exact date of the construction and demolition of this street and its associated buildings is unknown but it is not present on mapping dating to the second half of the 20th century.
